Wonderful, Fun, Catchy Dance Song!!!!!

I LOVE this song. It is so catchy and is totally one of my summer favorites. If you are a Gossip Girl fan, you have to get this song! Who knew Leighton Meester had such a wonderful voice? I think she is fabulous in this song. Overall this is a great song of the summer that is fun to dance to. If you like catchy tunes that have pop and electronica sounds you will like this song. It definitely puts you in a good mood and is very uplifting. I can’t wait to hear more songs from Cobra Starship and will be on the look out for Leighton’s upcoming album release!
I love it!
this song is so good and catchy!
First song I’ve ever heard from cobra starship but now I will be looking up more of their stuff, it loved it!
Catchy Summer Beat!
I like Cobra Starship, they’re fun and their music is dance worthy. Having Leighton on the track is a plus because her voice fits with the song. It’s catchy and a current hit! Love it!

Adult/Pop at its best and certainly Charlotte’s most accomplished work.
Like her famous parents Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, Charlotte moves between films and music with ease.
She is perhaps best-known for her starring role in Lars von Trier’s 2009 horror film “Antichrist ( Antychryst ) [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - France ]” – which surprisingly won at 2009 Cannes Film Festival – but it would be a pity if that notorious work overshadowed her other ventures.
“IRM” is a brooding work filled with cinematic strings and velvety textures, over which Charlotte whispers her songs with unrelenting seriousness.
Musically evocative, lyrically surprising, this collection of breathily intimate, seductively Francophile electro-folk-pop flirts with death, but shows no fear, radiating a confidence without trace of self-pity. It is certainly the actress’s face and name on the cover, her quiet, intimate voice at the fore, and her near-death experience in 2007 (after a water-skiing accident) that supplies the narrative backdrop. And it was Gainsbourg’s idea to make music that reflected her immersion in the hypnotically noisy womb of an MRI scanner (the title, IRM, being the French acronym for magnetic resonance imaging), a backwards reference to the scan that detected Gainsbourg’s cerebral hemorrhage in 2007. “Take my eyes and / Paint my bones / Drill my brain / All full of holes / And patch it up before it leaks”, she sings with breathy insouciance on the opening track, “Master’s Hands” against a jittery rhythm.
But the songs were actually written and produced by Beck, one of the outstanding talents of contemporary pop, primarily because he really loves those old records Serge Gainsbourg put out. “Paper Tiger” on Sea Change was basically Beck’s homage to Serge’s “Histoire de Melody Nelson”.
Much like her mother, Jane Birkin, Charlotte’s musical identity is that of muse rather than creator, first with her father, Serge (on the incestuously prurient duet “Inceste de citron (Lemon Incest)”, on “Charlotte for Ever / Charlotte Forever Charlotte Gainsbourg ALL Regions PAL DVD” in 1986), then with Air, Neil Hannon and Jarvis Cocker on the coffee-table indie chill of 2006’s 5:55.
Beck is clearly enamoured of Gainsbourg, filling his arrangements with romantic elegance, wispy melodies, dreamy beats and erotic froideur, but the width of his sonic palette and weight of his subject matter creates something that constantly pushes at the edges. Gone are the ethereal overtones and lilting mews of “5:55″, replaced by Mr. Hansen’s penchant for urban blues, bulging with percussion and reverb.
Although conceived as a sister album to “5:55″, “IRM” is much more than a mere sequel.
It is unafraid to rock (“Trick Pony”, “Dandelion”) or be resolutely commercial – the duet with Beck and lead single, the novellevague-sque “Heaven Can Wait”, and “Time of the Assassins” are surprisingly perky pop tracks that reveal gorgeous melodies.
Beck successfully avoids creating a Serge Gainsbourg tribute record. It’s only on “Le Chat du Café des Artists” – with its breathy, whispered vocals over its dark, densely orchestrated backdrop – that he can’t resist stylistically referencing Charlotte’s father’s “Histoire de Melody Nelson” album.
Highlights of the album are the heavenly cuts “Me and Jane Doe”, the bilingual “Voyage” and “La Collectionneuse”, which find the French songstress carefully ladling her gentle purr over each polished arrangement.
All in all, this is a Adult/Pop at its best and certainly Charlotte’s most accomplished work.
5:55
Charlotte gives Beck a new voice
Chalotte Gainsbourg has had a rollercoaster of a life since the release of her last album, 5:55 in 2006. In 2007, she played Claire, a French artist who became one of Bob Dylan’s wives in the movie I’m Not There. The same year, she fell victim to a water skiing accident that violently shook her brain and could have easily paralyzed or killed her. After undergoing emergency surgery, Charlotte was miraculously fine, but she had numerous M.R.I. scans afterwards to verify her stable condition. The title of this new album, the French term for M.R.I., clearly reflects Charlotte’s mindset as this new album was produced.
Although Charlotte is the sole vocalist on all but one of the tracks on IRM, a great deal of the creative control on this solo record, including the majority of the songwriting credit, is given to Beck Hansen, commonly known as Beck. From the first measure of “Master’s Hands,” the lead track on IRM, Beck’s influence is easily recognizable. Gainsbourg had already seemed to channel Beck’s Mellow Gold on 5:55, but IRM captures the more experimental and percussive side of Beck heard on “Modern Guilt,” Beck’s most recent release.
The title track, “IRM”, cleverly uses sample sounds of a running M.R.I. machine as the lyrics “Take a picture, what’s inside? Ghost image in my mind” are sung by an intentionally emotionless Gainsbourg. While references to her life after the accident are not always so blatantly present, they can often be found hidden within a verse or chorus; Beck’s obvious attempt to keep the music relative to the artist singing. The only track on which Beck does sing, Heaven Can Wait, he and Charlotte share nearly every word with a perfect balance. Neither Beck nor Gainsbourg are particularly gifted vocalists, but their lack of refinement seems to give an additional honesty to the words being sung.
It seems strange to call this a Charlotte Gainsbourg solo album with Beck’s influence reigning over every last aspect of the work, but what started as a small recording session between the two blossomed into an incredible success. Charlotte’s last record, certified platinum in France, never achieved much success in the US, but with a little help from the cunning king of musical imagery, I have no doubt IRM will finally provide her with the recognition she deserves.

Track Suggestion: IRM
Charlotte Gainsbourg – IRM
The best way for me to describe IRM is as the long-awaited follow-up to Sea Change/Mutations-style Beck, only sans the Beck. I mean, Beck did most of the writing, recording, and producing, but his singing on the record is sparse. Like with Sea Change, Beck’s father provides excellent string arrangements, and they really add to the chill atmosphere of the album. IRM is sleek and sexy, and the best example of the album’s mood is in “La Chat du Café des Artistes,” a rhythmic French number that very obviously brings to mind Sea Change’s excellent “Paper Tiger.” This is a very cool record, and I really got into it after only one listen, which isn’t very common for me, but I think if you give it a shot, you’ll see what a mean. Charlotte has a beautiful, sultry voice that she marries perfectly with Beck’s production style. This is a record for any Beck fan and anyone still waiting for a new Beck album in the vein of Mutations and Sea Change. Get it while it’s hot and steamy.

Since Dyson and Hoover are trying to figure out who is actually creating better vacuum cleaners, they have taken all the limelight for themselves. And while we weren’t looking, Electrolux was quietly making new vacuum cleaners and redesigning the line of their products to bring us the best vacuums ever; which was prooved with the Trilobite, the most advanced vacuum cleaner you can find today.
Electrolux vacuum cleaners have been cleaning peoples’ homes for many years. And now, there is a huge number of satisfied customers that are praising Electrolux vacuums and give them high ratings and positive reviews online. But the press is not a place where you will often hear something about Electrolux vacuums. This ain’t a bad thing at all. During the time manufacturers of vacuum cleaners were making their advertising campaigns and spreading the word on whose vacuum is better, Electroluxd was designing a whole new line of vacuum cleaners that are quite powerful and are able to satisfy a lot of needs.
For instance, take the Electrolux Harmony Canister Vacuum; this is one of the quietest vacuum cleaners on the market. One of the vacuums that is made to be super-quiet is Harmony; it has cool, soft wheels, a low level noise floor nozzle and insulated motor. Just to mention a Electrolux Pronto vacuum cleaner which you should consider in case you are searching for a stick vacuum. One of the most powerful stick vacuum cleaners you can find on the market right now is the Electrolux Pronto vacuum cleaner.
One of the great products Electrolux makes is a Oxygen3 canister vacuum cleaner. The Oxygen3 vacuum cleaner has been designed to eliminate, as much as possible, any allergens that might be expelled back out from the vacuum. In fact, the Electrolux Oxygen3 is good at retaining dust and allergens that the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association recommends the Electrolux air cleaner Oxygen Z7030.
And its good to know that Electrolux Oxygen 3 vacuum cleaner has another, sleek version. The only minus side to the Oxygen3 upright vacuum cleaner is that it is a little on the heavy side.
The truth is, they are not perfect, but are offering some good products at fair prices and the customer service that really listens to what you have to say.

The master has evolved further yet…
A few years back, I did a review of BT’s “Movement In Still Life”, an album that changed the way I looked at dance music. After the decent, yet stutter-step that was Emotional Technology, and the beautiful, yet too ambient for my taste “This Binary Universe”, today I am happy to return to Amazon to say that BT’s latest offering, “These Hopeful Machines”, is an album that once again changes the way I look at dance music, a double-album where I don’t even care what the names of each song are or where the skip button is located, because it flows so beautifully well.
Forget your radio-cheese pop or your repetitive club-dance music. THIS is the future right here. Brian Transeau is so ahead of his time that it’s ridiculous. This is not a person who goes loop-nuts with synths and drum machines, or relies lazily on his computer to do all the work for him. This album has been composed with TLC and it shows. You can truly feel BT’s vision come to life, almost as if every minute detail was meticulously planned and executed precisely according to his vision. Nothing feels “thrown in” for the sake of it, and even at 2 hours long, you’ll still be hearing new effects and tricks. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the music is very melodic, uplifting and fresh throughout. THIS is what feel-good music should be, and I feel truly priveleged to have seen a glimpse of the future of music. Hopefully the next generation will see the impact BT has left on electronic music as a whole, because as it’s always stood, IMO, the man just does not get nearly enough credit in this oversaturated industry. Marvelous album – thank you, BT!
Setting the Tone for trance music in 2010!
Brian delivered some amazing electronic albums in the late 90s and in the early 2000s. Then, in 2003, Emotional Technology, Movement in Still Life and This Binary Universe took a new approach to electronic music and the clubs didn’t quite soak it up.
For good reason. Personally, I think those albums are fantastic but they were experimental, new and broke out of the traditional trance mold.
As I attended BT’s shows and started hearing singles from the upcoming album, These Hopeful Machines, it was clear that Brian was bringing things back to basics but I wasn’t quite sure how he would deliver…
These Hopeful Machines is a new era in electronic music. Brian has taken every phenomenal aspect of his entire catalog and applied it to this album.
1. The vocals, pop appeal and ballad level lyrics that we love in the album, Emotional Technology
2. The stutter edit effects that made up This Binary Universe
3. The build up and release that we danced to on IMA and ESCM.
4. The guitar and “live” feeling that Movement in Still Life” gave us
Brian took these aspects and modernized it all for this new decade and its the perfect dance album for 2010!
My favorite tracks: (in order)
Suddenly
Emergency
A Million Stars
The Unbreakable
Brian also teamed up with some amazing DJs to deliver fantastic remixes that you can buy as a seperate digital album on iTunes.
BT hit a home run! I’ve listened to the album 6 times today and will listen to it 20 more times before the week is over. I’m in love and will have a hard time going back to his old albums because everything I loved about those records are in These Hopeful Machines.
Heartwrenching …
… because it means no other artist or album after this will ever live up to my expectations again.
I didn’t think he could do it … after four years, I thought BT had gone to live in a hermitage somewhere to contemplate the wonderful accomplishments of his life, but it turns out, he was working on this album. I feel a little ashamed to be calling this an “album” … it’s not an album, it’s an experience. It encompasses everything music should encompass. It’s orchestral, lyrical, celebratory … it’s about love, heartache, inner peace, and every other emotion you could possibly imagine. It’s tough to explain exactly what I feel when I listen to BT, because his music envelops all of your senses in a bubble of cosmic waves and euphoria. BT’s music DOES something to your brain waves and the world just seems a little bit clearer. ‘These Hopeful Machines’ is no exception to that.
Protip: Don’t listen to this album (or really, any of Brian’s music) on your laptop speakers. The music should truly be experienced in all of its glory … use a good pair of headphones or stereo speakers.

The Element Of Freedom….Indeed
I was a bit apprehensive with the new album when I heard and saw the video for the first single “Doesn’t Mean Anything”. It just seemed like it went on and on, and it got boring afterwhile. Then my interest was peaked a bit when the second single “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” was released; I didn’t care for the video all too much but it was different than her other singles. So when the day came that it finally came out, I figure why not get it (or someone get it for me).
Alicia Keys has never let me down with previous albums, despite the inconsistencies on each album. I put the album in and I haven’t stop playing it since.
For starters, she actually put an intro, and it makes sense and its pretty deep given its short.
Then it continues into “Love Is blind” which I really really love because it’s not her usual sound and register, I almost thought it was somebody else. The lyrics are ‘take ‘em or leave ‘em’ but the music and the production is so addictive, you’re jamming anyway.
By the time “Doesn’t Mean Anything” came around, it made sense where it was and it was less obnoxious after hearing “Love Is Blind”.
Although, I cringe when artists put all there singles in chronological order on the album, it didn’t bother me much when the song was followed by the 2nd single “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart”.
There are slight weak moments: “Wait Til You See Smile” is one of those light, fluffy records on the album that teeter between fluff and filler. But I will give Alicia credit for putting those light, airy songs between heavy hitting moments on the album.
My two all-time favorites on the album, three if you include “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart”, are That’s How Strong My Love Is” & “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready)”.
The lyrics of “That’s How Strong My Love Is” are reminscient of the flow of “If I Ain’t Got You” & “This Woman’s Worth”. Her phrasing in the song gives me chills and the haunting chords in the background just knock me out. The chorus is one of her strongest choruses and is a testament of how deep she is as an artist.
I really love “Un-thinkable (I’m Ready)” because it has a nice groove but it also makes you think of those intimate occasions with a special someone. That also gives me chills.
“Love Is My Disease” reminds me of the song featuring John Mayer from her last album, her voice is a bit hoarse which works for the urgency of the song. This girl shows vulnerability like no other female artist, outside of Beyonce.
“Like the Sea” is another light song but its more about her piano skills than it is about the material. so that’s about a 3/5
“Put It In A Love Song”, O.M.G. I was a little curious how it was going to work with Beyonce & Alicia. Both are strong women but their styles are different but very much high grade. I could’ve did without the simple beat but they both brought their A-game to this song.
“This Bed” another light song but the beat is a bit addictive
I guess Alicia had to add some more depth and eclectism to her album, “Distance & Time” and “How It Feels To Fly” are what that’s for.
“Empire State Of Mind (Part II)” is almost a better version than the original. She kept the chorus, which made sense, but she added her own words. I love it…
all and all, this is one of her more impressive and fun records and it sounded like she was more free on this record…
Alicia Keys evolves….
First off let me say that I really respect and appreciate Alicia Keys as an artist and I have been a true fan from the beginning. I love that all her albums reflect real life and touch your inner most emotions with such a soulful voice. The album Element of Freedom is no different. Her 1st non musical Intro is so short but yet so powerful! Some tracks have a different sound, like “Love is Blind” and “This Bed” and it’s obvious that she is evolving as a woman and an artist. My favorites are “Put it in a Love Song”, “Un-thinkable(I’m Ready)”, “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart”, “Empire State of Mind II”, “Wait Til You See My Smile”, “Like the Sea”, “Distance and Time”, “How it Feels to Fly”…Ok, wow let me stop cuz that’s most of the album! Anyway, I do love this album and haven’t put it down yet. And no, it’s not my favorite album from her (cuz that would be “Diary”), but I still love it anyway cuz it’s Alicia Keys expressing her personal trials and tribulations while growing into her own skin. Not everyone can express their life’s ups and downs through songs, but Alicia always sings straight from the heart and you can’t help but to respect that.
“IF YOU HAVE TO WALK A MILLION MILES, I’LL WAIT A MILLION DAYS TO SEE YOU SMILE”
For me its hard to pick a favorite Alicia Keys album. Not because each album is great but because all of them are different. “Songs In A Minor” was an introduction to who she is. “Diary of Alicia Keys” gave us more of her personal side. “As I Am” was a statement album. With her latest “The Element of Freedom”, Ms. Keys continues her climb to superstardom.
The joy of this album occurs in the first 6 songs. Alicia Keys opens with “Love Is Blind” which has a very seductive beat. She follows that up with her first single “Dosent Mean Anything”.”Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” is a good mid-tempo track. This is followed by two ballads “Wait Til’ You See My Smile” & “That’s How Strong My Love Is”. After that the album loses some of its flavor with “Un-Thinkable, Love Is My Disease & Like The Sea”. It drops even lower by time you get to “This Bed”. And it hits rock bottom by the time you get to the highly anticipated Beyonce duet,”Put It In A Love Song”. Even through all the ups and downs, the saving grace of this album is “Empire State Of Mind (Part II)”. With just her and a piano for most of the song, she took one hot hook and made it a whole song.
Alicia Keys is a major player in the R & B game. She went from being that piano playing, light-skinned girl with the braids to one of the most successful artist of this generation. She brings something new everytime she drops an album. Her talent is so different from Beyonce & Keyshia Cole. This dosent make her better than them just on another playing field. And now “Element of Freedom” is Alicia’s most musical album to date. She experiments with so many different sounds we are not use to hearing. Her voice is as powerful as ever, choosing to rely more on vocals than instruments to carry the album. This is not a perfect album, but it is another good listen by a person who was born to make music.
