Best ever5
This was the best song of the show. Justin and Matt really delivered a spectacular performance of this song.

Matt Morris and Justin Timberlake Suspend Time5
With Justin Timberlake on Piano and Matt Morris on Guitar, and BOTH on vocals, this tune was the highlight in a stellar evening of raw talent, emotionally and spiritually, for an equally raw evening of gut-wrenching testimonials about the people of Haiti. I pray you’ve downloaded this and the others to continue the aide and support this country so desperately needs. Amen.

Credit where credit is due…5
This is a beautiful rendition of this song, but it should be listed as a duet! Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris perform the vocals together with Charlie Sexton on guitar. The artists should both be listed.

Stand out song from Big Daddy Weave4
This song is taken from Philippians 4:13 and says that we can do all things in Christ.

The instrumentation is a little crowded, but it still has a catchy tune, making it a positive song.

I’m usually not a big fan of Big Daddy Weave because some of their music is a little too rock-oriented, but as I said, this song has a catchy tune and a good, positive message.

Addicted….5
I’m really loving this album. I loved their first one, and love this one just as much, if not more. Each and every song is an extraordinary musical experience. To get the full effect of the album though, it really helps to listen to it all in sequence. Each song helps strengthen the others. It’s almost like a live show more than a CD. Awesome job OneRepublic!!!

Phenomenal . . . best album of 20095
To be honest, I’m not sure what made me buy this album. I guess I’d heard “All the Right Moves” and dug the overall sound [heavy on the drums, touches of cello, etc.]. I don’t own “Dreaming Out Loud”, but of course I’ve heard the singles from it [Apologize, Stop and Stare, All I Need] many times on the radio. I wasn’t *quite* sure what to expect when I bought the follow-up, “Dreaming Out Loud”. After I listened to it the first time, I needed a few days to let it sink in before I could form an opinion.

Well, after owning and listening to this album for several weeks now, I am absolutely in love with it. It’s like one of those great movies that you can watch over and over and discover something new about it every time. One Republic blends everything good from the history and various genres of music and creates work that is both current and catchy, while being complex, touching and [ultimately] classic. I’m struck by how their songs can be simultaneously funky and symphonic, inspirational, and achieve a depth that you would NEVER, EVER find on the vast majority of pop albums out today. They leave “artists” (and I use the term lightly) like Britney Spears and Black-eyed Peas in the dust, and rise to the ranks of true musical icons like U2. In fact, the title rack “Waking Up” could FLAWLESSLY slip into a place on any U2 album and fans of either band would not be disappointed.

What I’m noticing with the [few] people who don’t care for this album and gave it only 1 or 2 stars is they are likely used more mainstream “pop” albums, and “Dreaming out Loud” (based on the singles released) was a little more of the radio-ready/traditional/safe type of music people are accustomed to hearing. However, “Waking Up”(in my opinion) goes deeper and further than that, and really shows off what Ryan Tedder and the group are capable of, which is nothing short of musical genius. What you have here is a band whose success is not anchored by having a hot lead singer or hot single you can blast at your next party – they are the real deal, they understand music as a whole (as evidenced by the vast variety of artists Tedder has produced songs for), and I hope they stay around for a looooong time, because they deserve to.

Favorite tracks:

Good Life – you can’t listen to this song and not feel happy

Secrets – one of those classic power ballads that will get stuck in your head

All This Time – sweet and emotional love song that builds to a BEAUTIFUL instrumental break towards the end

Marchin’ On – inspiring, great beat, gets me to push a little harder on the treadmill

Everybody Loves Me – funky, Southern-rock infused ditty satirizing self-absorbed people

An Intricate & Captivating Masterpiece!5
An Intricate & Captivating Masterpiece!

When I heard “Apologize” for the first time on my stereo I was immediately blown away. I haven’t heard such a beautifully, elegantly orchestrated song before in my entire life, or at least for a very very long time. I can’t recall such an experience in the last couple of years.

Needless to say, I purchased “Dreaming Out Loud” on a whim because it was on sale for eight bucks and an album can’t be that awful, contain fifteen songs, and be hideous for that price. I ended up discovering probably one of my favorite new bands of all time and discovering music on a level unexplainable.

Ryan Tedder is music producer talent extraordinaire. He has been on the map for the last few years being behind the scenes, but his duet with Timbaland really put this superstar on the map. Lyrics and production by Ryan for “Bleeding Love” just really put him on the map and it only went uphill from there when “Halo” was released. The boy just excels, but I digress.

Dreaming Out Loud was constantly being rotated on my Zune and its one of the few albums that I listen to on a daily basis. With each listen I found something new to love, or noticed something in the lyrics that wasn’t there before and just fell more in love with OneRepublic. I always thought in my head that if time came for their next album that it would just be a big feat to topple the mass appeal that was DOL. I have to say after listening to “Waking Up” that OneRepublic has done just so. If you loved DOL then you will love their latest effort “Waking Up”. It’s a CD full of new great material from an amazing band. The album is definitely more alternative and a bit different from the first, but it’s still got the OneRepublic magic touch. Ryan has such a wonderful way of using words, so intricate and captivating. The album is a feel good album and just gives you the feeling of hope and the sentiment emotion to want to leave earth a better person.

My favorite track is SECRETS. When the song starts and I heard those violins playing, I knew I was in for a treat and it was nothing bit a sweet treat. The sound of those violins were beyond hypnotic and Ryan plays and blends the lyrics and the chorus so seamlessly that it’s nothing but stellar. Profound music on a cosmological level.

The only down side is that there are only eleven tracks. I was hoping for fifteen again. Get the album and enjoy what a real masterpiece album is about.

The Pearl Necklace — A Natural Beauty

It has been said that of all the pieces of jewelry in the world, a pearl necklace is the only thing a girl should not be without.  And that’s no wonder, for a pearl necklace is the embodiment of classic sophistication and undying magnificence.

It is going with a range of outfits, from casual day wear to formal evening attire.  And depending on the kind of pearl and color, there are numerous pearl necklace styles acceptable for the terribly young, those enjoying their golden years, and almost everybody else in the middle.

The cost of a pearl necklace relies on the standard of its pearls.  Saltwater pearls are generally costlier than freshwater ones, which are cultured.  The sheen and the thickness of the pearls’ also have an effect on the price, as well as the size and roundness of the pearls themselves.

Pearl necklaces of various colours are available on the market.  Smaller pearls in light hues of blue or pink are generally more suitable for babies, while the creamier, ivory-toned pearls are preferred by older women.  Jewelry pieces made from black pearls are very costly, since these pearls are so rare.

According to Chinese folklore, pearls are the tears of a dragon.  In Roman mythology, they’re the tears of Venus.  Jewellery designers, in their untiring efforts to do justice to the legendary wonder of these gems, have been adding their own twists to the pearl necklace.  Apart from the classic strand, the pearls employed in necklaces are sometimes set in gold, silver or platinum.

Some designers also mix pearls with other gems to form a completely unique effect.  Additional ornaments, such as charms or a badge, can also be attached to a pearl necklace to give it a customised proficiency.

Caring for a pearl necklace does not involve a lot of fuss.  The most advisable thing to do is to wear it often , because if it’s stored away for long periods, it will dry up and lose its’ sheen.

The body’s natural oils will keep the pearls looking lustrous and fresh.  It’s also crucial to avoid having the pearls come in communication with substances like hair spray or body lotion, since these can also adversely affect the pearls’ condition.

The fondness for the pearl necklace hasn’t waned both among standard folk and societies elite few.  The classical fashion plate, Jackie Kennedy, had a keenness for pearls ; so does actress Maria Berenson.  Other stars often photographed wearing pearl necklaces are Michelle Pfeiffer, Sophia Loren, Jennifer Lopez and Paris Hilton.

The versatility of pearls is such that fashion pros are even predicting an increase in the quantity of men who will start wearing pearl-accented dress accessories.  For now there’s very tiny to surpass the class of the sight of a pearl necklace gracing the neckline of a lady, whether she’s a star or not.

Finding the best necklace holder fit will be easy.  What you need to do is visit our necklace holders website for readily available info on numerous sorts of necklace holders.

I must admit I’m hooked. 4 stars.4
Just Dance features a mean dance beat and is catchier than hell. Yes, I’m late in saying this, and yes, I’m still not *really* a fan of her yet (weird clothes aside, that has nothing to do with the music) but I find this song extremely catchy so I decided to buy it earlier today. And I’m still playing it on and off!

Yes, it’s disposable dance pop but remember this and hold onto it tightly: not ALL music needs to have a deep meaning. This just happens to be one of those songs.

As I’m writing this, I don’t plan on purchasing any of her albums just yet. BUT if I were to, I’d probably get The Fame Monster [Deluxe Edition] because the download price is only 12 bucks for like 20 songs! However, some of the songs on The Fame aren’t my cup of tea anyway (from the samples) so I must say that that wouldn’t necessarily be a great step.

Ah, I remember the first time I heard this song at the bar I used to attend and I almost lost it. And not in a good way! But now I appreciate the song, almost 2 years later.

4 stars or an 8/10.

Monica stands on timeless music, maturity and love4
Fulfilling the title, Monica proves she’s still standing fifteen years after “Miss Thang” on this album, her sixth studio effort. More than anything however, the “Everything To Me” singer seems to have honed in on her strengths and left the tricks to youngsters unlike the 2006 effort “The Makings Of Me”.

Filled with songs about getting to love, appreciating a significant other, being at a crossroads in a relationship and even getting out of a bad one, Monica leaves no stone unturned when it comes to relationships on “Still Standing”.

Kicked off with the title track “Still Standing,” Monica taps Ludacris for the album’s lone collaboration, leaving listeners with an empowering and truthful account of her past, singing “see this is more than just a song to me `cause I been up against the ropes, everything you’re going through I been there before”. While the record was first heard early 2009, it is still one of the album’s stand out songs, catching Monica near her best as a strong songstress telling an empowering story. That theme, which fits Monica well, can be heard on another standout track titled “Believing In Me”.

The final track on the album, “Believing In Me” features Monica finding the strength to leave a one way relationship, meaning the man she fell in love with does not love her the same way. Produced by Stargate, “Believing In Me” is both relatable yet fitting for Monica who sings “didn’t know that I was selling my soul to someone who didn’t care at all,” before delivering the words “I’ve moved on and I’m strong. I’m going back to the place where I know I belong.. cause I’m right and you’re wrong, this time I’m believing in me…. I’m never letting go of my dreams.”

While Monica spends time taking a stance on songs like “Still Standing” and “Believing In Me,” the majority of the album is spent adoring the love of her life. Before we get there however, she takes a detour with Ne-Yo and Polow Da Don on “Here I Am” and “Stay or Go”. Unfortunately, both songs seem to go nowhere. The latter of the two especially, “Stay or Go” is surprisingly the least attractive song on the album, which is even more surprising with Ne-Yo credited. On the song, Monica sings “You either wanna be with me or you don’t. Let me know what you’re going to do cause I’m not waiting”. “Here I Am,” as seen on the reality series “Monica: Still Standing” is credited to Polow Da Don. While the song, like “Stay or Go,” starts out well and is more `contemporary’ than others, it fails as the seconds roll on with lyrics like “Why don’t you come and pick me up and take me to the crib and do the things that I have told you he won’t,” followed by “boy stop tripping cause it’s just me and you”. Neither are horrible songs however, just not the best. These songs, along with the Missy Elliott produced 80s like track “If You Were My Man (Betcha),” are simply okay, not thrilling or songs you would run and share with a friend.

The remainder of “Still Standing” is Monica at her best. Perhaps because of an admiration for the father of her children during the album’s recording, Monica comes off soulful, truthful and at peace on “Everything To Me,” “One In A Lifetime,” “Mirror,” “Superman” and “Love All Over Me”. All timeless, these songs are perhaps what listeners expect from Monica at this point in time. Not trying to gravitate towards today’s pop-friendly R&B records or earn a cosign from Hip Hopper’s with another “Everytime The Beat Drop,” Monica delivers here.

“Everything To Me,” the album’s official first single, leads the pack as a classic and timeless ballad about a love that is second to none (“you’re everything to me, the air that I breathe..”). Monica then takes it up a notch on “One In A Lifetime,” produced by Los Da Mystro. A record that could easily be another single, “One In A Lifetime” is comparable to “Mirror,” another stand out track and potential hit single.

Produced by Jim Jonsin, “Mirror” is lyrically and not just vocally sound with Monica singing “I used to have my share of lonely days beneath the makeup and the darkest shades. But ever since you came I know the meaning of true love again. It’s not the bags or the trips or the clothes. It’s not the fans or the sold-out shows. It’s the way that you see through my soul.” Laying it down, Monica goes on to sing “When I look in the mirror I don’t recognize the girl all about the glitter, cause now I see you by my side. Now nothing’s ever going to be the same, forget the fortune you can keep the fame.”

Picking up where she left off on “Everything To Me,” Monica admires her man, comparing being with him to a movie, in this case “Superman,” singing “waking up with you is just like waking up next to superman.” Produced by Bryan Michael Cox, “Superman” is laid back in comparison to the last two songs, but nonetheless seamless.

Last but not least, the Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox produced “Love All Over Me” rounds out “Still Standing” as another laid back, yet soulful track filled with admiration.

As she sings on “Love All Over Me,” “you showered me with a new beginning, now I’m clean”… “Still Standing” is a new beginning for Monica. A solid effort filled with mature songs about getting to love, appreciating a significant other, being at a crossroads in a relationship and even getting out of a bad one, “Still Standing” should keep Monica up for some time.

If you must download instead of picking up the whole album, “Mirror,” “Everything To Me,” Superman,” and “One In a Lifetime” are the top picks, with “Love All Over Me,” “Still Standing” and “Believing In Me” as bonus tracks you might want to grab legally.

Monica is “Still Standing” strong5
This is a very solid project. It is a ballad strong album filled with beautiful expressions of love. With tracks such as; Here I Am, Love All Over Me, Everything To Me, and Mirror, Monica proves you can still stay relevant while still singing from within. While the album may have lukewarm tracks such If You Were My Man and Superman, tracks like Still Standing, One in a Life Time, and Stay or Go makes Monica’s fans understand why they fell in love with the girl who is now a woman 15 years ago. This is an album you can virtually listen from beginning to end without hesitation. I rate this album an A -. Well done Monica.

Nobody’s perfect, but….5
Monica has delivered perfection with this album. I am truly speechless. As a loyal fan over the years, I have watched and witnessed the progression of Miss Thang and Monica always delivers greatness. Still Standing will be grabbing Grammy’s, get your gown ready Monica. The album left me speechless. If I could give it ten stars, I would but they only allow five. I wish you all the best Monica, you deserve every bit of success you get. Let me just say this, this album was well worth the wait. Monica represents and is a major part of real R & B music that was beginning to fade away, but seems to be coming back for 2010 with releases from Monica, Usher, Toni Braxton, Fantasia, and more. I love all of the songs on the album, they are all favorites! Support REAL Music, Support Monica and buy this album, you will be more than glad that you did. I promise! THIS IS PERFECTION! PURE PERFECTION! :)
