Samsung CLX-2160 overview
Multifunction laser printers are nothing new but traditionally they have always been far too expensive for a home or small business user to consider. Samsung are trying to change that by bringing the CLX-2160 to the market, it’s a budget MFP which offers the benefits of a laser printer with the cost of an inkjet. Samsung CLX-2160 toner cartridges are also a bit like inkjet printer cartridges in that they are much smaller than the usual Samsung toner cartridges and they printer less to. The running costs for the printer are reasonable with an average page cost 1.8p for black and 8.7p for colour, this is pretty average for black but colour is a little expensive. You can reduced this cost by using the widely available remanufactured toner cartridges for the CLX-2160 which cost on average half what the original Samsung toners do. In terms of print performance the CLX-2160 it difficult to known what to compare the CLX-2160 its not a good as a mid range laser printer for either black or colour printing but it prints a faster than any inkjet printer I have come across.I guess this a good a thing as that is exactly what the Samsung CLX-2160 is designed to do bridge the gap between a the slow speeds of an inkjet printer and the high expense of a laser printer. The colour printing is the weakest point of the CLX-2160 and if you plan to do any photo printing this is definitely not the printer for you, its also not suited to doing large print runs.
